Crossfit is the principle strength and conditioning program for police, fire, tactical operations teams, military special forces, champion marital artists, ultimate fighters and Real Estate consultants. The link below will take you to the Crossfit website, where you can find information, workout demos, and the all important WOD (workout of the day). It’s in a blog format which means you can post your times and summaries alongside everyone else who is doing it to see how you compare. The workouts are different every day and alot of the time you can get by without even going to a gym. I came across this about a year ago and I really like it. You just go to the website each day and get that day’s workout. Some of the exercises are unique, but they have video demonstrations of much of the exercises and workouts. Alot of good supplemental information too.
The first few weeks I did it, I thought whoever was putting these workouts together was just some crazy masochist who spent his day locked in a room trying to figure out new ways to punish anybody who was dumb enough to actually do them. It turns out the authors are professional coaches with impressive backgrounds and a reason behind the pain. In their own words: ” Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average punish the specialist.”
